There are a lot of hosting providers who offer unlimited hosting. Do you think it's true that there is unlimited bandwidth – unlimited storage space, unlimited add-on domains? What's your opinion about these unlimited hosting plans?
Unlimited hosting is never unlimited!
Do you consider that could be possible the unlimited hosting, when nowadays we talk a lot about limited resources, like limited silicon, iron, aluminum or limited mother board, connecting cables or computer RAM. We guarantee that this is false.
Do you think that unlimited hosting is just a fraud?
We don't claim that unlimited hosting is actually fraud. Take, for example the bank system: Your money is at the bank which deals with the safety of your cash deposits and you can withdraw your money anytime. But what happens if every customer wants to withdraw their money all at once. Do you think the banks could handle this? The answer is no! (In most cases, cash deposits are used for other purposes by the banks).
We gave this example, because like the banks hoped that customers will withdraw small amounts of cash at the same time, in the same way hosting companies are sure that hosting users don't need at the same time too much hosting power; so they say that they have an offer of unlimited hosting. In this way hosting companies with special features (bandwidth pipes, computer servers, manpower etc…) promise that they offer unlimited hosting when in fact, this couldn't be possible.
Should we believe in unlimited bandwidth/storage?
The storage space and bandwidth are one of the most relevant features of a web host, could and will influence your decision. Do you choose unlimited hosting? The answer is yes; if the hosting company is reputable, they will fulfill their promises and obligations.
But don’t forget that the hosting bandwidth and disk storage are not everything to achieve success. The company’s reputation and its capacity is more relevant than the hosting bandwidth and storage capacity. If you can run just two MySQL database, do you think it deserves to have unlimited disk storage? What’s the reason in having unlimited bandwidth if your server doesn’t have a very good processing power to support your website attributes? You should take into consideration customers feedback and also the web hosting comments.
